Probably insignificant systemic exposure.
Chemical description
Contact laxative; enterotablets 5-10 mg/d or supp.10 mg/d. Diphenyl pyridine derivative hydrolyzed in the intestine to desaetylbisacodyl, which is absorbed and excreted in urine and bile as glucuronide. A diphenol is formed in colon which stimulates motility. Only minute amounts reach the system. South African list: use with care
